Automatic Lights & Rain Sensing Wipers

Been tinkering again and adding a few systems to the Aero to bring the electrics up to date.

Now have my auto lights installed - these switch the side lights on at low light then the headlights on when dark.

Managed to be a bit sneeky with the sensors this time around and fitted them inside the rear view mirror. just so happens there are 2 hollow dimples inside the casing which the light sensors fit into perfectly!



Also added my interior "ambient" lights - again this time around I have been able to fit the LEDs inside the rear view mirror which means they are completely invisable! These just give a gentle blue glow inside the cockpit.



While in the mood for automation I also fitted rain sensing wipers, this consists of a small ECU and a windshield mounted sensor.

The sensor again hides behind the rear view mirror and the ECU lacates in the passenger kick well.

All the wiring is kept local and just taps into the stock harness at the wiper control relay box, only mod required is a diode in one of the lines.



Both systems can be switched off and neither interfere with the standard functioning of the stock controls.

Keeps me off the streets!

No - it's a sign of a sad sad man!

Even sadder is today I upgraded the unit - yes I have pulled it apart already! Now it incorporates a courtesy wipe of the rear screen when you select reverse so:

If the front wipers are on, when you select reverse the rear screen automatically turns on to intermittant wipe.

Firts found that feature on a rover 800, thought at the time what a jolly good idea - dead simple mod too for the supra!

Think most modern pieces of carp have this as a feature too - it's a darn good idea hence the mod

Will write it up at some point - then other sad people can integrate it if desired - woo!
